Aircraft and Flight Inspection Equipment

FPL currently employs 4 aircraft based at Durham Tees Valley Airport and one in Braunsweig, Germany. FPL also uses a third party aircraft in the Falkland Islands, and occasionally use the Dutch NLR Metroliner for Enroute work. These are all equipped with Aerodata flight inspection systems to provide comprehensive checking and calibration of radio and radar navigation aids, which include ILS, MLS, DVOR, DME, NDB, TACAN, PAR, Search Radar, MSSR, and U/VDF. All FPL's aircraft are equipped with UHF RT communications to facilitate integration into a NATO Military ATC environment.

Teeside:

The Teesside aircraft comprise 4 Beech King Air 200 aircraft, G-FPLA, G-FPLB, G-FPLD and G-FPLE. These are equipped with Aerodata ADFIS 9 flight inspection systems currently approved to calibrate airfield ILS to Category III using a laser ground tracker unit. One ADFIS system is capable of flight inspecting MLS, and all systems are potentially capable of carrying out DGPS flight checking of PAR without the ground tracker unit.

The other aircraft comprise:

A Beech King Air B200T, D-CACB, based at Braunschweig Airport in Germany and operated by AFI Flight Inspection. This aircraft is equipped with an Aerodata flight inspection system operating to ILS Category 3.

A Pilatus Britten-Norman Islander, VP-FBO, owned by the Falklands Islands Government Air Service is used to carry out flight checks at Mount Pleasant and Stanley Airports. This aircraft is equipped on an as needed basis by a transportable ADFIS system shipped from Teesside, operating to ILS Cat 1.
